Paris Hilton vs. Scooter Libby

So let me get this straight:

Paris Hilton's incarceration and early release and eventually re-incarceration was headlines for weeks. The public outcry was deafening that she be PUT! IN! PRISON! The news was all over it, supporting that fact that she SHOULD be in prison. How dare she think she is above the law! It spits in the face of our country and the laws and the justice and the blah, blah, blah.

And then...

Mr. Bush commutes the sentence of Libby and there is hardly a blub on the news radar?

Scary times. Scary times.

Here is a quote from "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," Keith Olbermann. How can the citizens of this country continue to abide this president? Why??!

We of this time -- and our leaders in Congress, of both parties -- must now live up to those standards which echo through our history. Pressure, negotiate, impeach: get you, Mr. Bush, and Mr. Cheney, two men who are now perilous to our democracy, away from its helm.

And for you, Mr. Bush, and for Mr. Cheney, there is a lesser task. You need merely achieve a very low threshold indeed. Display just that iota of patriotism which Richard Nixon showed on August 9th, 1974.
