Mum likes reading, decorating, shopping with the girls, and Starbucks. She also feels funny writing in the 3rd person. Papa (also known as Sparky) is currently looking at me with a blank stare having asked him to add something about himself to the blog. (Now he wants to say something) The only thing he loves more in life than music and Coke is his wife and kids. (Awww...) :) Little Lotte is a genius on the computer and makes me fall over laughing every day with her quick wit. She loves computers and animals. Sweet Pea abandoned her family and moved to Phoenix for work and is now married as of 2/28/06. She is beautiful and smart and the most nurturing person I know. She gave me the greatest gift ever when she made me a grandmother. I am the proud Mum Mum to Andrew Christopher. There are no words to describe the joy of having a grandson!

Dear Sparky

Dear Sparky,

I don't know how you do it.

Every day you are bombarded with girly things and womanly ways. You are drowning in pink, delicate, fluffy stuff. Toile has taken over our home and cute pumpkins light the night instead of scary skeletons. Floral rugs are scattered everywhere and delicate lace curtains hang from the windows. Mascara, curling irons, hairspray, lavendar spray, body wash, and soap fill the bathroom along with white and pink fluffy scrubbies. Rasberry scented shampoo, coconut scented conditioner nestle in our pink, black and white toile (!) bathroom. Paris themed signs and symbols are in every nook and cranny of the bedroom. Delicate glass cake stands and vases fill the diningroom. But as if that weren't enough - you have to put up with every freakin' emotional outburst, doubting, crying jag, guilt ridden, crazy-eyed, hair-brained scheme or mood we are in.

God, I love you.

If it helps, I can make Little L start smoking cigars and fill the fridge with beer (that you won't drink) and I MIGHT be able to burp (no promises) and maybe I can get a deer head and put it over the tv (but we would have to move the delicate scroll that hangs there now).

I guess you are REALLY looking forward to a grandson right about now, huh? It's probably God's way of rewarding you for eating from plates with shamrocks on them and washing our underwear all of these years.

lyrics meme... it's a long one... grab a hot toddy. (What exactly is a hot toddy?)

OSNAP Jacked From Little L

Pick a band whose lyrics have always felt express your life and emotions well.
Use ONLY their lyrics to answer the following survey.
Which band are you using?
I can’t decide between Amy Grant and Stevie Nicks. I think I will go with Amy.

~Are you a boy or girl?

At times the WOMAN deep inside me wanders far from home...

~How old are you?

Time carries on;
I guess it always will,
But deep inside my heart
Time stands still.

~Where do you live?

Fire in the field
Underneath a blazing sun

~What's your home life like?

The sun comes up
The breakfast show
Cant you see me running
Its crazy don't you know?

~What's your current mood?

So glad.
Oh, I'm so glad.
(T.G.I.F.!!!)

~What do/did you think of school? (That would be work for me!)

Well it don't stop
No, it's never gonna stop
Why do I have to wear so many things on my head?
HATS!
Working for a livin'
All because I'm driven
To be the very best for you.

~Describe your first love.

We said our promises by candlelight
You held my hands, I was dressed in white
We were young
How can we see that far?
How can we see that far?

I knew I wanted you like no one else
I told my momma that Id found myself
In your eyes

~Describe your first heartbreak.

I know love hurts when it's over
If you wanna cry it's alright
You're like a fallen soldier
But you just can't lay down and die.

~Describe the emotion behind a moment you will never, ever forget.

And when I woke you in the dead of night
To hold my hands, push away the fright
Life had come

Yeah, we were nervous and a little scared
Until the music of our baby's cry
Filled the air

~What do you think of your life in general?

Baby I'm the lucky one

~What's changed for you in the past year?

(Grandson!)
For the children of the world
Every single little boy and girl
Heaven plants a special seed
And we must have faith for these

~What's one thing you do every day?

Teaches something new...

~What's your favorite color?

The smell of everGREEN

~Do you have any piercings/tattoos?

So take your heart and run.
(a small heart on my ankle!)

~Say something to someone you miss.

Long time since I’ve seen your smile
But when I close my eyes
I remember

~Say something to someone you can't stand.

Man hurts man
Time and time, time again
And we drown in the wake of our power
Somebody tell me why

~Say something to someone you love.

I call your name,
You look my way,
It's clear you trust each word I say.
When life is long and problems come,
You'll always be my only one.
So now we're standing face to face,
And with one look your eyes embrace me.
Squeeze away each haunting fear,
And say the words I long to hear.

Tell me that time won't erase
This look of love.

~What's your current status?

Classic case of boy meets girl
Moving in the same direction
You're not asking for the world
I'm not asking for perfection.

Just a love that's well designed
For passing the test of time
I'm here to tell you
I'm here to stay
Every hour, every day.

~Are you happy with it?

I'm laying it all out on the table,
I'm telling you again what I've already told you before:
My love is not a soon forgotten fable;
My heart is not a box with a lock in a five and dime store.

So there's no need to question me and my feelings.
Oh, wondering if I am sure.
Ask me again, and I'll tell you the same,
Over and over.

Sure enough to never want to be without you,
Sure enough, to stay for good,
Sure enough in every little thing about you,
Sure enough.

Developing the art of collaboration,
It's dinner and a movie and a baby or two.
Now we are in the midst of a revelation, mm-hmm,
We're doing what a modern world said we could not do.

And even when our love is mellow and aging,
Oh, even when we're old and wise,
And we know then what we don't know now,
Well, I know I'll still be

Sure enough to never want to be without you,
Sure enough, to stay for good,
Sure enough in every little thing about you,
Sure enough.

~Describe your most recent last relationship.

You like to drive like Mario Andretti
I like it taking my time
But let me say wherever you are going
You know it suits me just fine
Does anybody have it any better?
Isn't it easy to see just how well we fit together?

When I start to sing the blues
You pull out my dancing shoes
I think you could be so good for me
You get brave when I get shy
Just another reason why
I think you could be so good for me
So good.

~Describe your last kiss.

You're the kind
That I want to be with in the dark and
You're the kind
Who is capturing my heart
And I'm the lucky one
Baby I'm the lucky one

~What's your favorite season?

Come on weatherman,
Give us a forecast snowy white.

~What did you last cry over?

If these walls could speak.
They would tell you that I’m sorry
For being cold and blind and weak.
They would tell you that it’s only
That I have a stubborn streak,
If these walls could speak.

~Describe one of your happiest moments.

Do you wanna be in love forever
Do you wanna make my dream come true
Let me be the one to kiss and hold you
Say you'll be my baby
Can you see the two of us together
Living in love this whole life through
Do you wanna be in love

~Describe the perfect partner.

True love and the miracle of forgiving

~Describe your perfect day/night.

I'll lift you up and blaze with you
Across the moonlit sky
On the night before Christmas.

~What's something you wish to achieve?

Yesterday I thought I'd seen it all
I thought I'd climbed the highest wall
Now I see the learning never ends
And all I know to do is keep on walking

-What's something about yourself that you're proud of?
Laura loves her little family,
And she's the kind of woman who loves them with her life.
Her husband loves her dearly,
And the morning shows her clearly,
Kisses her little baby girl.
Laura, she's the queen of the world.

~What's something you'd change about yourself?

At times the woman deep inside me
Wanders far from home,

~Where do you hope to be in five years?

Time never changes,
The memories, the faces
Of loved ones, who bring to me,
All that I come from,
And all that I live for,
And all that I'm going to be.
My precious family
Is more than an heirloom to me.
(Just being with family is my only hope for the future!)

~What's one thing you want to do/try before you die?

Buy me a ticket please, to anywhere I'll go
(Please change the word anywhere to PARIS. Thank you)

~Death is inevitable. How do you want to go out?

As I'm looking down the road ahead
Love has a hold on me
Someday when I breathe my dying breath
Love has a hold on me

~Describe your outlook on life.

Just goes to show that you never know
Just what tomorrow may bring
But Ill tell you this that what it is
Is seldom what it seems
cause life is a curious thing
Life, ooh life is a curious thing. .

~What's one piece of advice you'd give to the world if they'd only listen?

All we're really looking for is some place
Safe and warm
The shelter of each other in the storm
Maybe one day
We can turn and face our fears
Maybe one day
We can reach out through the tears
After all it's really not that far
To where hope can be found
Maybe one day
We can turn this world around

Who can trace the path of time
Not you or me
The twisting road we call our lives
We cannot see
The hunger and the longing everyone of us
Knows inside
Could be the bridge between us if we try.

Our family as stick figures...

Sparky commented that his figure "didn't look too happy." I was just looking at the suit. I didn't even see the frown! Sparky is a very good natured husband. (Am I out of the doghouse now, Sweets?)

As you can see, Little L is in her cheerleader outfit, Sweet Pea is with child, and Mr. Sweet Pea is wearing his cool Hawaiian shorts that he got in Hawaii on one of their many vacations to the islands. (Actually, I don't even know if he owns cool Hawaiian shorts but I just thought they looked adorable and they have been to Hawaii so - could happen.)
Me? That was as close to a Snow White dress as I could find. :-)

Autumnal Thoughts

When does fall begin for you? Personally, Labor Day Weekend when I begin decorating my home for fall. In reality in the desert? In December - that’s when whatever trees there are here begin to change color and drop their leaves.

What is your favorite aspect of fall? The cool mornings and the earlier sunsets. I love to come home from work and light pumkin scented candles while I cook dinner as the sun sets. The house is so cozy with the candlelight!

What is your favorite fall memory? Every fall is my favorite but any fall in Pa. is the best. Also, you must watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. It’s the law. Look it up.

What do you like to drink in the fall? I start to drink hot cocoa in the morning but mostly, we drink hot tea at night.

What's your favorite fall food? caramel apples with nuts.

What is fall weather like where you live? Oh here comes the bittnerness! It’s hot, just like it is every other day of the year.

What color is fall? Amber, red and orange.

What does fall smell like? fireplaces burning

Holiday shopping in fall: yes or no? Of course.

If you could go anywhere in the fall, where would you go? Pennsylvania, home sweet home.
What is your favorite fall sport? Football!

Do you have a favorite fall chore? Carving a pumpkin, buying fall scented candles, decorating my home for my favorite season.

What is your least favorite thing about fall? That it ends.

What is your favorite fall holiday? Thanksgiving.

What's your favorite kind of pie? Pumpkin with Cool Whip!

What was your favorite Halloween costume? My Snow White costume ( for day), Evil Queen (for night)
What was your favorite Halloween candy? Anything chocolate. Duh.

What was your least favorite Halloween candy? Anything not chocolate.

Which do you prefer, the Farm or the Fair? Farm!

Do you have a favorite fall book? Any fall decorating magazine.

How about a favorite fall poem?

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The grey smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the Fall!

~Robert Louis Stevenson

gross.

I simply cannot watch the World Series because it's so gross to watch the players spit.

WHY do they have to spit?

Why?

Why?

Why?

Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~ George Eliot

I have not blogged in so long I almost forgot my password. It's back to work for me as of today. I did not get to go to Mississippi as planned but I was where I needed to be. I know that I will get to reschedule and have that "ya-ya" time again.

Sweet Pea is having some difficulties with the pregnancy and it seems she is trying to roll all of my ailments I went through in 2 pregnancies into this one! Poor baby girl - I'll be here for you, always. You just concentrate on giving that precious baby everything he/she needs to grow healthy and strong.

I've got nothing.

I'm tired and trying to get back into the routine of life. I'll post more when I clear my mind.

It's Britney, Bitch

Actually, it's meat.

I've just wanted to use that line in my blog since the VMA's.

These pictures of meat brought to you by my dear Sparky who plans on gorging himself with flesh while I am in Missississississippippippippi.

Do you think I should serve meat more often? THIS is what he does when I leave town. Poor guy...

Too Much Vacation

That's the title of a children's book and I am feeling it...
It's good to be home for a few days. I am finally getting a moment to post some pictures from Pa. The Wash. D.C. ones will follow either tonight or tomorrow.

Yesterday was a true gift - I've been slightly sad that I don't live in Pa. (Gee? Really, M? We couldn't tell from your last post!) :-)

Anywho - yesterday was a FALL DAY - yes, a FALL DAY in the desert! It was actually almost, sorta, a little bit, cool (ish)!!! We cleaned and puttered around the house. Sparky helped me put up my outside fall decor. Pictures of that coming (that line was for you, Mick! haha) but first here are some highlights of the Pa. trip.

As usual, when we landed, my daddy came to visit in the form of rain as he ALWAYS does. The rain cleared immediately as we drove out of Chester and was sunny the WHOLE rest of the vacation. In fact, it was downright HOT.
