Mum likes reading, decorating, shopping with the girls, and Starbucks. She also feels funny writing in the 3rd person. Papa (also known as Sparky) is currently looking at me with a blank stare having asked him to add something about himself to the blog. (Now he wants to say something) The only thing he loves more in life than music and Coke is his wife and kids. (Awww...) :) Little Lotte is a genius on the computer and makes me fall over laughing every day with her quick wit. She loves computers and animals. Sweet Pea abandoned her family and moved to Phoenix for work and is now married as of 2/28/06. She is beautiful and smart and the most nurturing person I know. She gave me the greatest gift ever when she made me a grandmother. I am the proud Mum Mum to Andrew Christopher. There are no words to describe the joy of having a grandson!

It was a JOKE

The fish post was absolutely, positively, hands down and APRIL FOOL's Day joke! OF COURSE I didn't go out and buy fish. Are you crazy?! ME?! The local news is currently running a little thing in the morning about fears and how you can call them up and tell them your fear and why you want to face it. Well, I don't WANT to face it! I have a fear of fish and I am not afraid to tell you that! It's bad, oh so bad. Sparky has to go through my cookbooks and take out pictures of them. If I come across one in a magazine, I freak out. Sparky has to run interference at the grocery store so I don't run into any fish face to face in the seafood area.

It's the scales. It's the eyes. It's the lips. It's just not good. I am sure it all began with the goldfish that jumped out of my bowl and that I almost stepped on when I was 6. That or I was a mermaid in another life and was swallowed up by a large fish. One or the other.

Shuddering.......

I should post more often...

but I haven't been inspired. It's post wedding what-do-I-post-about-now writer's block. Have you LOOKED at the archives?! Do you want to see more pics cause I got 'em. Over 1000 of them. They are stunning. I need to figure out how to do the Flicker thing so I can post them in one spot on here.

Um, it's Friday. Yea! Friday!

And we are going to Phx. tonight to pick up Little Lottie. (She's been there with her sister. Sweet Pea took her to Disneyland for her birthday - ssshhh! Don't tell the school.) I am a firm believer that memories are what matter most in life and there are appropriate times to run away from it all and make those memories. (Especially when the daughter has a 4.0)

That's it for now. Maybe the weekend will bring more to write about!

More Beautiful Wedding Memories...

Monday, April 03, 2006

Harvard M. McNulty July 21, 1916 - April 3, 1987

You were once
my one companion . . .
you were all
that mattered . . .
You were once
a friend and father -
then my world
was shattered . . .

Wishing you were
somehow here again . . .
wishing you were
somehow near . . .
Sometimes it seemed
if I just dreamed,
somehow you would
be here . . .

Wishing I could
hear your voice again . . .
knowing that I
never would . . .
Dreaming of you
won't help me to do
all that you dreamed
I could . . .

Passing bells
and sculpted angels,
cold and monumental,
seem, for you,
the wrong companions -
you were warm and gentle . . .

Too many years
fighting back tears . . .
Why can't the past
just die . . .?
Wishing you were
somehow here again . . .
knowing we must
say goodbye . . .
Try to forgive . . .
teach me to live . . .
give me the strength
to try . . .
No more memories,
no more silent tears . . .
No more gazing across
the wasted years . . .
Help me say
goodbye.

Glorious Goldfish!

Well, I finally did it. I broke down and let Little Lottie buy a fish - a goldfish to be exact. We went to PetSmart and we were looking around at the kittens and puppies like we normally do and Little Lottie wanted to visit the fish, as usual. For some reason, I was drawn to follow her. She pointed to the cute little clown fish and blue tangs. But a saltwater tank is too much money. We were going down the aisle that is filled with tanks upon tanks and I was just enjoying looking at the silver scales and little eyes on the fish. They just looked sooooo cute with their little tails wagging behind them like a happy puppy!

As we rounded the corner there was a rather large tank that was overbrimming with the most beautiful golden-orange fish I have ever seen! There were so many fish in the tank they appeared as a liquid ball of fire! I was drawn to them. I got really close to the tank. I enjoyed little splashes of water on my hand as they skimmed the surface from time to time. I stood transfixed as they fed them, their little mouths opening wide to get their yummy treats. I HAD TO HAVE ONE!

PetSmart has it all so we found the aisle with the tanks. I bought a 5 gallon tank with some blue gravel and a little scuba diver. The saleslady said I could pick out the fish myself and handed me the net. I was so happy to be able to scoop these wiggling little creatures of God into the net! The first one kind of slipped out of the net but I caught him and he laid on his side, his cute little bug eye looking up at me as if to say, "Are you my mommy?" How could I resist?!

In the end we bought 2 goldfish. Good thing I bought the big tank! When we got home I filled the tank up after placing the gravel and the scuba diver. I gentle untied the bag and by accident, I let it slip onto the counter. It's ok though, I just picked up that little squirmer by the tail, smiling at his beautiful little face, and gentle placed him into the tank. The other one landed at my foot and I was worried I might have to give him mouth to mouth resuscitation (which I wouldn't have minded doing at all) but luckily, as soon as I put him in the water, he was fine. I stuck my hand in the tank and let them brush up against me as they swam so they could get to know the hand that feeds them. Their little bodies tickled my hand as we played in the water together!

It was a great day. I am going to go make dinner now, FISH STICKS! Yummy!

P.S. We named the two fish. The first one is APRIL and the other one is FOOL.
