Mum likes reading, decorating, shopping with the girls, and Starbucks. She also feels funny writing in the 3rd person. Papa (also known as Sparky) is currently looking at me with a blank stare having asked him to add something about himself to the blog. (Now he wants to say something) The only thing he loves more in life than music and Coke is his wife and kids. (Awww...) :) Little Lotte is a genius on the computer and makes me fall over laughing every day with her quick wit. She loves computers and animals. Sweet Pea abandoned her family and moved to Phoenix for work and is now married as of 2/28/06. She is beautiful and smart and the most nurturing person I know. She gave me the greatest gift ever when she made me a grandmother. I am the proud Mum Mum to Andrew Christopher. There are no words to describe the joy of having a grandson!

I would soooo fire my publicist.

Jessica Simpson ordered to rest voice
POSTED: 12:26 p.m. EDT, August 29, 2006

NEW YORK (AP) -- Talk about bad timing. At the start of a media blitz to support her new album, "A Public Affair," Jessica Simpson is on vocal rest.

"It is true that she has indeed lost her voice," Simpson's publicist, Rob Shuter, told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "She's been ordered to rest. ... She can talk, she can croak out a few sentences. She sounds a little off, but, you know, she can't sing."

Summer Memories

Dairy Queen
Lightning Strikes
Fresh crabs from a truck
Found coins in dirt
Chasing mallard ducks

Bologna sandwich
Skating in the street
Banana Splits
blue flipflops for my feet

Scooter rides
With my cousins
Picnics at Chester Park
Hyacinths bloom
Parades in June
Lightning bugs in the dark

Visiting Dad
Where he works
Azaleas, pretty and pink
SEPTA rides
How time flies
Makes me stop and think

What memories will
My daughters keep
Of summers fleeting fast?
Family time
Pictures from the past.

Good News and Bad News

The good news is...

Sparky and I drove to Los Angeles over the weekend to attend a taping of the show King of Queens. It was soooo great! I love that show and especially Jerry Stiller. He is an icon so it was awesome to see him in person. Leah Remini is this tiny, petite, did I mention tiny? little slip of a thing and drop dead gorgeous. She was signing autographs after the show and although Kevin James was nearby, I knew I wanted to snag the autograph from Leah for Sparky. I had sent Sparky off to find a picture of the cast. He had not returned so I pulled a bandaid out of my pocket (it was wrapped still, at least!!!) and called to Leah, who was now in front of me "Leah! Will you please sign this for my husband, Bob?" She smiled and TOOK THE SCRIPT FROM UNDER HER ARM and starting signing it!!! I couldn't believe it! It says" TO BOB KISSES! Leah Remini. I thanked her and called to Sparky.

He came over and couldn't believe his eyes! I felt badly cause he didn't get to see her as up close as I had but he did get to see her. He called out, "Thanks, Leah!" and she laughed again. What a sweetheart she was!

They were taping on a Saturday night which is unheard of. The staff said she was ill (102 temp) on their normal Friday night taping. So if that is true, she was still not feeling well but you wouldn't have known it. She was very cordial and stayed a long time to sign for people!

The bad news is...

Sparky got laid off after 14 years on the job. Just like that. They laid off his boss too. On the news this morning they said this is the time when layoffs begin. Sparky has never been laid off before. Luckily, he has a severance package. It's just so surreal. I mean, he has been going to this place ever since we moved to Tucson 14 years ago. I feel so badly for him. In good news though, he does have an interview tomorrow at 3:00. Stay tuned. :)

We have our house, we have our health, we have our kids and friends and family. Not to downplay this (cause it truly is a shock to the system) but in the big picture - we are still very, very lucky people.

Snippets from a Saturday

Little Lotte: "Have you ever had these Bertie Botts?" (Harry Potter jellybeans)

Me: "No."

Little Lotte: "They taste just like the flavors - vomit, boogers."

Me: "Now how in the world would anyone know what boogers taste like??"

Little Lotte: Stares at me incredulously - "Now come on mom, like you never ate a booger when you were a kid."

Me: Stares back in disbelief. "Want some Gummi Worms?"

Little Lotte: "Mom, will you make your potato soup for dinner."

Me: "Yes."

A little later...

Little Lotte: Takes a bite of soup and leans on the hall wall for effect - "Oh my god, what did you do to this soup?" (It's THAT good)

Me: "I made it with love."

Little Lotte: Rolls eyes.

Me: "Seriously! I made it with love! And some green onion."

27 years...Today

We said our promises by candlelight
You held my hands, I was dressed in white
We were young
(How can we see that far?)
(How can we see that far?)
I knew I wanted you like no one else
I told my momma that I'd found myself
In your eyes
(How can we see that far?)
(How can we see that far?)
But like your daddy said
The same sun ~ that melts the wax can harden clay
And the same rain ~ that drowns the rat will grow the hay
And the mighty wind ~ that knocks us down
If we lean into it
Will drive our fears away.

And then I woke you in the dead of night
To hold my hands, push away the fright
Life had come--
(How can we see that far?)
Yeah, we were nervous and a little scared
Until the music of our baby's cry
Filled the air
(How can we see that far?)
But like your daddy said
The same sun ~ that melts the wax can harden clay
And the same rain ~ that drowns the rat will grow the hay
And the mighty wind ~ that knocks us down
If we lean into it
Will drive our fears away.

We might die
We might live
We could hurt each other badly
Do things, things so hard to forgive
And if time is not our friend
Your mind might forget me before the end
And oh, I cannot
I cannot look that far.

But like your daddy said
The same sun ~ that melts the wax can harden clay
And the same rain ~ that drowns the rat will grow the hay
And the mighty wind ~ that knocks us down
If we lean into it
(How can we see that far?)
Got to lean into it
Will drive our fears away
It's the same sun
And the same rain
It's the same sun
And the same rain. ~ Amy Grant

I love you, Sparky.
