Mum likes reading, decorating, shopping with the girls, and Starbucks. She also feels funny writing in the 3rd person. Papa (also known as Sparky) is currently looking at me with a blank stare having asked him to add something about himself to the blog. (Now he wants to say something) The only thing he loves more in life than music and Coke is his wife and kids. (Awww...) :) Little Lotte is a genius on the computer and makes me fall over laughing every day with her quick wit. She loves computers and animals. Sweet Pea abandoned her family and moved to Phoenix for work and is now married as of 2/28/06. She is beautiful and smart and the most nurturing person I know. She gave me the greatest gift ever when she made me a grandmother. I am the proud Mum Mum to Andrew Christopher. There are no words to describe the joy of having a grandson!

How I Spent My Weekend

The picture is not fuzzy - that's how fast I was working to finish the veil in time. :)

over 300 butterflies - white chocolate, dark cocoa and lavender (vanilla flavored) butterflies made, bagged, lavender ribbon/butterfly charm tied.

Finished my SEI class, completed lesson planning for the week, made copies for next Prescott class, visited the grey hair removal fairy, (she lives in my bathroom), made hotel reservations for a bazillion people, shopped for last minute wedding items, bought a necklace for Lauren to wear at the wedding, blah, blah, blah...

I'm tired. I was glad to go to work today!!! :)

Me and Stevie Nicks...

You Are The High Priestess

You represent mystery - secrets that are yet to be revealed.
You find yourself sitting between two worlds: one dark, one light.
You tend to hold these two worlds in balance, reconciling the two.
Open and welcoming, you invite others to learn your secrets.

Your fortune:

Something hidden, or latent, in your life is about to come forward.
You need to pay more attention to your dreams, thoughts, intuition, and imagination.
And if that involves tapping into your dark side, it will all balance out in the end.
You have a lot of potential dying to be unleashed, so let those gates open!

The Color Purple

Your Heart Is Purple

For you, love is about establishing and developing a deep connection.
If it's true love, it brings you more wisdom and inner strength.

Your flirting style: Sincere

Your lucky first date: An afternoon at a tea house

Your dream lover: Is both thoughtful and expressive

What you bring to relationships: Understanding

My Other Job...

So I am pretty sure that you cannot actually be a BRIDE until your mother has a tiny (reallllly tiny) nervous breakdown with the bride at midnight on the phone. If you look up wedding planning and look at THREE WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING it will state that you should call to make sure the flowers were ordered, have your final fitting for your gown, and have a good cry with your mom on the phone.

But you know what? It's all gonna be ok. Ya know why? Because this wedding is meant to be. Sweet Pea and I have been running around finalizing everything and trying to make it perfect and trying to make everyone happy and trying to please the world and last night it came down to this: It's better to build the perfect marriage than the perfect wedding. The wedding will last for 5 hours. The marriage needs to last a lifetime. And I am not ringing my own wedding bells but I do hope that Sparky and I are an example of a happy marriage - even after almost 27 (I think that's right) years together. :) Sweet Pea, I love you. Sparky, I adore and love you. And Little Lottie? You better find your missing ipod (and I love you!)

Back to work for me...

Family

So in two weeks my house is going to become the home to my Sparky's parents who are as much my parents as they are his. His mom and I like to sit and drink tea in the morning and talk. I get all the family secrets and then when Sparky and I are having a conversation about family, I can fill him in. His mom is this little slip of a thing (I have my hands on her shoulders in the picture) who is quiet and kind and caring and the greatest Nanny (as the girls call her) in the world. She remembers birthdays, Christmas, Halloween, you name it. She never puts herself first and is always thinking of others. She has never said a mean word to me in her life and we have never had a fight. In fact, when I was being ordained in 1988, and we were asked to pin a star on our mothers (and my mother chose not to be there for reasons I would prefer not to discuss) SHE was overcome with empathy for me (knowing the situation) and literally jumped from her seat to hug me. She forever sealed a place in my heart at that moment.

Sparky's Dad? Well, he's the ultimate PopPop (as the girls call him) and laughs and listens when they want to talk his ear off. This is a man (he is the one with the brown and white striped shirt) who had someone drive him over 200 miles round trip because Little Lottie HAD TO HAVE a Sebastian and Flounder (from The Little Mermaid) and the only Disney store in the area of Reading, Pa. back in 1991 was in King of Prussia. She still has them to this day (13 years later) and we will have them forver. On another side, he has an eye for a beautiful girl and I totally get where Sparky is coming from because of his dad. (wink!) His dad, having met me for the first time walked over to Sparky and whispered, "You have good taste in women" forever sealing his fate as my favorite father in law.

In two weeks they will be in my home. They are now in their 70's and still enjoying life and each other. They want to be with us for 3 weeks and I think that says a lot. In fact, we were having dinner with friends recently and I found myself joking that my inlaws were coming for 3 weeks. They felt bad for us and said something to the effect of.... Oh, and they put you down and rag on Sparky? And I was taken back. It was at that moment that I realized how loved we were by them. They have NEVER lived up to the stereotypical in laws and I am one-lucky-woman. No more in-law jokes. I'm gonna go get some fresh sheets to make up Sweet Pea's room for them. And some English Breakfast tea for mom and me. And a poster of a beautiful brunette to hang on the ceiling for dad. :)
